What a way to end the week! Weeks ago, students learned that if JHE earned our fundraising goal, members of the staff would be turned into human sundaes! We accomplished that goal...and let me just say that nothing could have prepared us for the feeling of ice cream between our toes!

5th grade Hurricane Helpers helped us celebrate World Teachers Day by bringing around snacks and drinks to all staff!
We have amazing custodians at John Harris! They work hard to keep our building looking nice and complete many tasks that go beyond their job descriptions!

The 2023-2024 Fun Run/Color Run was a great success! Thank you to Jami Bishop for coordinating so many elements behind the scenes. Thanks Liza Schnabel and Deborah Miller for helping deliver prizes every morning for the last couple of weeks. Thanks Kevin Bishop and Dusty Schnabel for helping so much during the race. Thank you to all other volunteers and JHE staff that lent a hand in setting/cleaning up and tossing colors at students!
More information will be provided next week about money raised and how it will support our school.

Author and native South Dakotan, V.J. Smith, spoke with 4th graders today. He spoke of the importance of gratitude, appreciating small gestures, and demonstrating acts of kindness.

Our JHE Fun Run kicked off today with an All School Assembly! We are excited to announce that we have partnered with DUDE PERFECT!!!
With our partnership with DUDE PERFECT, over the next two weeks, our students will learn about how to be WORLD CHANGERS! They will learn about how to change the world by finding a need, making a plan, rallying a team and launching their plan into action!
Our goal is to raise $75,000, and, if you’d like to, we are inviting YOU to help!

The first All Pro Dad event of the 23-24 school year is tomorrow morning from 7:15-7:45 in the gym! Come for great conversation, donuts, and coffee! We hope to see you there!
Our outdoor classroom/garden area is expanding! Next to the benches and tables we have added a "Positive Rock Garden" that contains encouraging and inspiring messages. Today 405 students helped with landscaping and getting the area ready to add more rocks. Over the weekend, while watering flowers, Mr. Dixen discovered two special insect visitors, including a praying mantis! How cool!

JHE 5th graders listened intently as Lincoln High School band students demo'd instruments. It's safe to say that many students are interested in starting an instrument! LHS students put on quite a show!
