The JHE HERO breakfast was added to our PBIS system in the Spring of 2022 as an additional way to recognize students that have exemplified the John Harris CORE values (Helpfulness, Excellence, Respect, Ownership). Last Friday was our first HERO breakfast of the 24-25 school year!
Nominated by staff members, these students became recipients of the "Honorable Harris HERO" award.

We would like to say a BIG thank you to the John Harris PTO for providing meals for staff during conferences this week! We are grateful!

Last Friday, first graders took a field trip to "Our Farm" in Parker, SD! Kids enjoyed a wide variety of activities...including the bus ride there!

Ahoy! Students in 2nd-5th grade have been working on throwing accurately at targets in the gym. "Battleship" is a favorite game to practice this skill! Teams worked together to guard their pins to keep their ship afloat. Rescue boats (scooters) gathered balls to bring back to their ships. Each ship tried to sink enemy ships by knocking down their pins. Many laps were ran for stepping off ships or sunken ships!

Friday ended with the Fun Run fundraising celebration...dropping staff members into a dunk tank! A handful of people who weren't planning on getting wet surprisingly found themselves in the dunk tank. Here are some of the pics/video snapshots of our celebration! Thanks to Jami Bishop for helping us cap off the fundraiser with this great activity.

Yesterday, the 5th grade Hurricane Helpers delivered a treat to all staff to celebrate World Smile Day!

It was Walk to School Day today and we couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather. It was fun seeing families arrive together! Thank you to the John Harris Elementary PTO for supporting this event with prizes and volunteers at checkpoints!

Today is National Custodian Appreciation Day. The John Harris custodians are amazing! Thank you Steve, Alex, Thomas, and Phul. Our building is clean and well maintained thanks to their hard work and dedication!

Last Friday was the JHE Fun Run and PBIS game day!

Our Fun Run theme this year is "Castle Quest." Some students and staff dressed like queens, kings, princesses, and princes. During lunch today, kids were greeted by "King Steve" as they exited the lunchroom and went to recess.

Yesterday, our amazing Education Assistants wore t-shirts stating: "You can't spell TEAM without an EA." Those words could not be more true! We're missing a few team members in the picture, but we greatly value the work of all EAs at John Harris!

Thank you for your continued support of the Fun Run. We have already raised over 35% of our goal!
See the image for evening challenges through September 27th!
