
5th grade students visited Harvey Dunn Elementary this morning for the finals of Book Battles! It came down to one question and John Harris Elementary came away with the win! Congratulations to all of the students who participated and to Mrs. Hage and Mrs. Boyle for the work they did to make this event a huge success! Thanks to the staff at Harvey Dunn for hosting this year's finals!

April 25th-29th is After School Professional's Week! We are thankful for all of the after school programs! At John Harris Elementary, we have an incredible Kid's Inc. staff!

The 4th-5th grade band and orchestra concert was held last night at John Harris Elementary. The students performance was incredible!! Thank you to all of our students for providing a great evening of music! Shout out to our orchestra instructor, Mrs. Cooper, and band instructors, Ms. Dunbar and Ms. Gage, for their leadership in the music department!



Today's All Pro Dad topic was Respect. Respect is also one of John Harris Elementary's core values of being a Hurricane HERO. Thanks to all the adult role models and their students for joining us this morning for breakfast and a great message. Shout out to Charlie Nesdahl for leading this group - he does a great job. Happy National Banana Day! Students in grades K-2 received a special "bananagram" delivered to them in their classroom. Bananagrams have inspirational and positive messages written on them. Mr. Thom, Mrs. Dykstra, Mrs. Hage, and Mrs. Dopperpuhl all enjoyed wearing the banana costume and delivering to our amazing students! We want to thank the Sycamore Fareway for their generous donation of bananas!

John Harris Elementary students earned 15,000 Hurricane Hero slips last month and celebrated on Friday with athletes from Lincoln and Washington High school! As a bonus, all of the athletes were former students at John Harris! The reward was part of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). Students earn HERO slips for being Helpful, Showing Excellence, having Respect, and taking Ownership! Thanks to Cameron, Joe, Cole, Kael, Ethan, and Elliott for a fun morning and taking a photo with their elementary teachers!





Mark your calendars! The last day of school will be Wednesday, May 25th, 2022.
The Sioux Falls School Board approved a recommendation at their meeting tonight to move the last day of school from Tuesday, May 24, 2022 to Wednesday, May 25, 2022 due to the one day of school missed for inclement weather in December.

Thank you to the music department staff and students from Ben Reifel Middle School for visiting John Harris Elementary today. The performance was awesome and our kids loved singing and clapping along to the songs! It was also great to see former students today!
